Advanced Skin Renewal Microneedling: 6–12 Month Results & Care
By Beverly BeautySkincare and spa | October 9, 2026
Quick answer: Most people notice visible smoothing in 2–4 weeks, peak collagen changes around 3 months, and results typically hold for about 6–12 months. Your aftercare and sun habits decide where you land in that range.
I hear the same question all the time in my Portage Park studio: how long will microneedling last, and is it worth it? Here’s the honest part. The results build over time, and your day-to-day care matters as much as the appointment itself. I also keep the experience calm and comfortable. People tell me the space feels relaxing and that their skin looks clean in a couple of days after treatment, which is exactly what I want for you too.
The microneedling timeline I want you to plan around (2–7 days to 12 months)
My Advanced Skin Renewal Microneedling appointment is 70 minutes, and it’s built around collagen induction therapy. I create tiny micro-channels in the top layer of the skin so your body kicks on collagen and elastin production. That process is why results don’t show up overnight, but it’s also why the improvements can stick around for months.
Downtime: usually 2–7 days
Expect redness the first day, then a dry, sandpapery feeling as you heal. If you have a busy schedule, I’ll help you time it so you’re not healing during a major event.
Early results: 2–4 weeks
This is when many people notice their skin looks smoother and more even. I see a lot of “cleaner” texture here, similar to what people love after a deep-cleaning facial.
Peak remodeling: around 3 months
Collagen doesn’t rush. This is the “oh wow” window when tone and texture changes tend to look their best.
How long it lasts: roughly 6–12 months
If you protect your results, you’ll usually stay closer to the 12-month side. If sun, smoking, or inconsistent skincare creeps in, it can fade sooner.
Chicago note: Our four-season climate matters. Fall and winter are often my favorite microneedling seasons in Chicago because lower UV helps healing and lowers the chance of post-treatment pigment issues.
8 aftercare moves that keep microneedling results closer to 12 months
People come to me because I take time to look at your skin first. That matters even more if you’re sensitive. I’ve had clients tell me most products burn, but after I really examine their skin and talk through what I’m using, they leave with no redness or irritation and skin that looks amazing. I bring that same careful approach into microneedling aftercare so you don’t accidentally undo your results.
- Keep cleansing gentle for 7–14 days. No scrubs, no exfoliating acids, and don’t pick at flakes. Let the skin shed on its own.
- Skip heat and soaking for 1 week. Saunas, steam rooms, pools, and hot yoga can irritate healing skin and increase redness.
- Treat sunscreen like a daily appointment. SPF every morning is the biggest difference between “I still love my skin” at 10–12 months and fading early.
- Hold retinoids and strong actives until I clear you. Usually you’ll pause them for that first 7–14 day window, then ease back in.
- Hydrate like it’s your job. Chicago winters are dry. A simple barrier-supporting moisturizer and enough water go a long way.
- Give your skin support once healing is done. This is the right time to talk about options like growth-factor serums or LED Light Therapy sessions to keep things calm and consistent.
- Space your first series correctly. For most goals, I recommend a starter series of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. That stacking effect is what builds long-term change.
- Stay consistent with maintenance. One session can help. A plan keeps it going. I’ll map out your next step before you leave so you’re not guessing at home.
If you love facials too: I often rotate microneedling with Facials, microdermabrasion, or hydrodermabrasion so you keep pores clear and texture smooth while collagen is building in the background.
Why microneedling fades early in Chicago, and the simple fixes
Early fading usually isn’t because microneedling “didn’t work.” It’s because life happened. Sun exposure is the big one, even when it’s cloudy along the Irving Park corridor. Smoking also slows healing, and skipping daily SPF or retinoid use (once you’re healed) can make your skin backslide faster.
The fix is boring but effective. Protect your barrier, wear sunscreen, hydrate, and don’t wait until everything fades to come back in. If you want to add other services into your routine, I’ll tell you honestly what stacks well with microneedling and what I’d rather you hold off on.
When I’ll tell you to rebook microneedling (and how we keep it comfortable)
For most people, the best plan is simple: start with 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, then maintenance every 6–12 months. If your goals are acne scarring, texture, or hyperpigmentation, I may recommend staying closer to that 6-month maintenance mark.
I’m in Portage Park on Chicago’s Northwest Side, near the Central Avenue commercial strip and the Irving Park corridor. People come in from Elmwood Park, River Grove, Franklin Park, Schiller Park, Norridge, and Melrose Park because it’s easy to get to, and I keep appointments moving without feeling rushed. I also check in during the service. If something feels off, we adjust in real time.

A quick note on other popular services people ask for (“facials near me” and beyond)
A lot of people find me searching “facials near me”, then they realize they can build a full routine in one place. If you’re also looking for lashes near me, I do lash lift, lash tint, and lash fill options. I also offer eyebrow shaping and brow lamination, plus waxing near me services like a brazilian wax. And if you’re prepping for an event, ask me about a body tan or a korean bb glow facial. I’ll be honest about what pairs well with microneedling timing so your skin stays calm.
